At ESMT Berlin, institutes are multidisciplinary groups, which seek to explore key global business issues in line with the overall strategic direction of the school. Research centers, on the other hand, have a research agenda consistent with the strategy of the school and “fit” the broader strategic aims of the school or have an issue-based agenda, focused on an area of central importance to managers, firms or government, and of more than transitory interest.
